Module Details
Who is this module applicable to?
The module has been developed at this level to facilitate the development of a large group of staff who will have considerable life experiences of working with substance misuse but may have limited underpinning theoretical knowledge or qualifications in their area of practice. The module is for those who work in statutory or voluntary agencies with persons who have drug and alcohol misuse problems and relevant to all grades of staff and disciplines irrespective of professional qualifications.
Aims
This module will explore the assessment of those who misuse substances that are specific to student practice. Students will be using assessment skills in practice, and therefore these skills are essential to robust practice with those who misuse substances. Management and treatment plans in substance misuse should always be under assessment review. It is for this reason that assessment knowledge and skills are crucial in practice.
